SUSAN S. TURNER LISW provides psychotherapy, counseling, support and education to lesbian, gay, bisexual , transgender, questioning individuals, and their allies, as well as to LGBTQ couples and families,to help all reach their maximum emotional well-being and life success.
I am committed to providing culture, gender and lifestyle sensitive and clinically skilled counseling and mental health services. It is also my commitment to provide caring, affirming, affordable, and confidential services; and they will always be provided in a wheelchair accessible site.
I practice gay affirmative counseling with lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender adults. Gay affirmative counseling believes that a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender identity is an equally positive human experience and expression to heterosexual identity. I celebrate and offer validation to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trangender persons and relationships.
My conviction that people can feel better about themselves and their world through “talk therapy” is based on 30 years of experience. People can achieve increased satisfaction in work, relationships, sex and play through talking to a caring mental health professional who listens in a non-judgmental and thoughtful way.
Nowadays we often need someone outside our immediate lives who affirms our struggles in coming to understand ourselves; someone who is our listener and advocate -- someone who is there just for us, to ask the right questions, explore all the possibilities, provide guidance when wanted, and give unconditional support.
